Ghana Girl

Hey Bombshells,

After going through my blog I realized I’m missing something … African print! So for this post, I thought I’ll share something of my culture, kente. Kente cloth is an Ashanti type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips and is native to the Ashanti people ethnic group. The cloth is worn in times of extreme importance and mostly wore by Ashanti emperors-kings. Over time, the use of Ashanti kente became more widespread. However, its importance has remained and it is held in high esteem with my people.Kente is made in Kumasi, Ghana,  capital of Ashanti. Ashanti Kente is the best known of all African textiles. Kente comes from the word kenten, which means basket in Ashanti language. Ashantis refer to kente as nwentoma, meaning woven cloth.I plan to share more cloths with you guys in the future so  I hope you’re ready for a world of vibrant colors. Enjoy your week loves.
