The first Monday of the month of May was filled with costumes, social media, and fashion. The year’s Costume Institue Gala at The Metropolitan of Art took place on May 7, 2018 in New York City. Its theme was the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and The Catholic Imagination”. This theme is so hot yet blasphemous, I expected nothing but regal fashion that offended me. As holy garments repurposed into fashion, this years fundraiser was a success. A lot of celebs, such as the men, Kardashians, and all the fashion models should’ve STAYED HOME since they wasted such a demential theme; I wasn’t impressed by their creativity of the night.
Here’s the best dressed from the night, Icons whose style was creative and dramatic. When you actually follow the theme:
Taylor Hill in a cardinal’s robe by Diane von Furstenberg.
The only model who did the theme justice, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked heavenly in Ralph Lauren Collection.
Inspired by Our Lady of Sorrows (Mater Dolorosa) of Chandavilla. Lily Collins is in Givenchy; best makeup of the night.
Christian Combs in Dolce & Gabbana.
Priyanka Chopra never disappoints, the icon wore a Ralph Lauren dress with an embroidered hood.
Nicki Minaj in Oscar De Le Renta.
Winnie Harlow in a dress designed by the Tommy Hilfiger Atelier.
Trevor Noah dressed simple yet smooth in Balmain.
Always wth the jesus vibes, Jared Leto and his date Lana Del Rey wore Gucci. She was also inspired by the statue of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows, the heart with seven swords is magnificent.
Darren Criss in a hand stitched, sequined replica of a mosaic by Dolce & Gabbana.
Jasmine Sanders was golden in H&M.
Capturing Black Madonna and all of the African Saints, Solange represented in Iris Van Herpen. (Peep the durag)
Jordan Roth delivered in Givenchy Haute Couture.
Lena Waithe surely made a statement in Carolina Herrera.
Jennifer Lopez wore Balmain.
Giving me Pope, Rihanna stayed on top in a pearl-and crystal-embellished Maison Marginal Artisanal gown by John Galliano.
As her reign continues, Cardi B ruled in Moschino at her first gala.
From the gold hair pieces, to the rings, King T’Challa, I mean Chadwick Boseman looked like the royalty that he is in a custom-made Atelier Versace.
As her own knight in shining armor, Zendaya Coleman dominated as Joan of Arch in Versace.
THIS IS WHAT I WANT!!! Sarah Jessica Parker brought the drama in Dolce and Gabbana.
SJP had the actual nativity scene on her head!!! And this train!!!
Queen of the MET, Blake Lively took my breath away in Atelier Versace.
Still recovering from these looks
